Emma Thomson has over 20 years’ experience as a specialist in economic development and policy with a degree in maths. Her career began north of the border at Scottish Enterprise, the economic development agency for Scotland, before moving to London where she worked for an education business partnership and business campaign group London First before becoming Head of Strategy at the London Development Agency.

Since early 2007, Emma has been a freelance consultant where she has developed her consultancy portfolio to include planning, skills, education, business development, sports and sporting events and the charity sector. Emma also works regularly with Kada Research on evaluation and strategy development.

She has assisted in consultation, evidence building and analysis on a number of projects, leading telephone and face-to-face interviews to inform economic strategies as well as sector strategies for ICT, software development, advanced manufacturing and science based industries. As an associate to Kada Research, she recently worked on the development of an economic strategy for Surrey Heath. This involved stakeholder consultation with local officials and firms from large corporations to SMEs. She has extensive experience in the development and delivery of regeneration and economic projects and programmes regularly working as consultant on a wide portfolio of activities.
