Mark Beresford is a multi-lingual, international business and economic development specialist with an MBA from Lancaster University Management School. His career has been built up in both the UK and overseas through twenty five years of international consulting, project management, commercial and innovation related assignments with a variety of UK and international businesses, SME organisations, Universities and public sector clients. He has worked for Saint Gobain in France, Royal Doulton in the Netherlands, UK consultancy Strategem and set up his own consulting company in 2005. Since 2013, he has worked for Lancaster University part time on a China programme which seeks to build links between innovative UK companies and Chinese partners in Guangdong around international collaborative R&D partnerships.

He has worked extensively in the UK and internationally for trade and investment promotion agencies such as UK Trade & Investment (scoping opportunities for UK advanced engineering firms in Russia, assessing the feasibility of a UK innovation/tech hub in Shenzhen China); Copenhagen Capacity (market intelligence, proposition development and lead generation) and Commonwealth Secretariat (improving competitiveness of services sectors in Guyana, Malaysia, and Saint Kitts and Nevis). In partnership with other consultancies he has provided specialist expertise to UK LEPs and local councils (Coast to Capital, Tamworth and Lichfield, Birmingham) on internationalisation, inward investment marketing strategies and proposition development.
